The proposed project involves relocating Brown Strauss Steel’s leased Fontana facility to a newly constructed 14.92-acre site at 1219 and 1431 West Lincoln Street, consisting of a 45,000 square foot warehouse, a 3,000 square foot office, two enclosed saw sheds, and an outdoor storage yard, along with a General Plan Amendment and Zone Change for a portion of the site.
Ganddini Group prepared a traffic impact analysis, a vehicle miles traveled (VMT) screening assessment, a noise impact analysis, and a combined air quality, greenhouse gas, health risk assessment, and energy impact analysis in support of the project’s entitlements and CEQA review with the City of Banning.
The studies found the project would operate at acceptable levels of service (with one pre-existing intersection deficiency not substantially worsened by the project), satisfy the City’s VMT screening criteria, and result in less-than-significant noise and air quality impacts, including specific siting of the enclosed saw sheds to minimize cutting noise.
The project, including its General Plan Amendment, Zone Change, Tentative Parcel Map, and Design Review, was approved by the Banning City Council in June 2024.
